The Fortian alumni associations began in 1894 in order to:

1. Build a Strong Community:

• Create a place where members can connect, have fun, and support each other.

2. Give Back to Fort Street:

• Actively contribute to the success of Fort Street High School through volunteer work, mentorship, or other initiatives.

3. Celebrate Our Legacy:

• Honour the rich history and traditions of Fort Street while embracing innovation and progress.

Faber Est

Membership of the Fortians Union is free for the first five years after leaving school. Life membership is available for a one off fee of $50.00.

Here are some highlights from the meeting:

• President's, Membership and Treasurer's Reports were presented.

• Election and Appointment of Executive, Committee, Patrons and Public Officer.

• Membership fees to remain the same.

• Motion passed to develop a proposal to achieve a much closer realtionship with the school. To be put to the 2026 AGM.

Here are some highlights from the meeting:

Fort Fest

• The day was a success, with hundreds of visitors and plenty of interest in the Union. It is worth doing again.

Membership Brochure

• Printed copies were handed out at Fort Fest and proved very useful.

Membership

• Six new members were welcomed, including three of this year's graduates who joined after Fort Fest.

Mentoring

• Bookings are well advanced, with many new mentors. Facebook posts are helping to bring in a younger group of Fortians.

Constitution Review

• The final draft was presented. The committee agreed to have two vice presidents, no longer designated male and female.

• The new constitution will be put to members for adoption at the AGM. Notice will run in Faber Est, with a link to the draft.

Annual Dinner

• Bookings are building, and members are encouraged to book before they close.

• The program and raffle are being organised.

Merchandising

• Members will be told about merchandise available through the school.

Faber Est Newsletter

• The next issue is on track. It will include a Fort Fest report, an Annual Dinner follow-up, the AGM notice and a Fortian story.

Mini Reunions

• Further reunions will be considered with the school, possibly one each term.

School Liaison

• A meeting with the school is planned before the end of the year to review 2026 and plan for next year.

• The Kirby Interviews project continues.

Treasurer's Report

• Finances are in good order. Dinner payments and merchandise sales are coming in.

Annual General Meeting

• The AGM will be held on Monday 30 November at 4:00 pm at the school, followed by a brief committee meeting.
