The Fortian alumni associations began in 1894 in order to:

1. Build a Strong Community:

• Create a place where members can connect, have fun, and support each other.

2. Give Back to Fort Street:

• Actively contribute to the success of Fort Street High School through volunteer work, mentorship, or other initiatives.

3. Celebrate Our Legacy:

• Honour the rich history and traditions of Fort Street while embracing innovation and progress.

Membership of the Fortians Union is free for the first five years after leaving school. Life membership is available for a one off fee of $50.00.

Here are some highlights from the meeting:

• One new member joined (1967)

Careers Mentoring:

• Career Speed Dating event scheduled for 27th February, 8:30–10:30 a.m.

• 28 mentors plus 2 committee members participating, with approximately 160 students

• Meeting with school staff to be arranged to confirm logistics

Mini Reunions:

• Proposal to be circulated to the committee regarding organising reunions and tours

Merchandising:

• Pricing under discussion, images to be placed in Faber Est

Faber Est:

• Edition 105 (publication 3rd February) to cover: Career Speed Dating, Speech Day invitation, Twilight @ The Fort promotion, and a Fortian Story (1973)

• Edition 106 (copy deadline 17th April) to cover: Speech Day report, Career Speed Dating report, Twilight @ The Fort report, and a Fortian Story (1993)

Constitution Review:

• Draft still in preparation

School Liaison:

• Sub-committee to compile names list from records

• Sub-committee meeting scheduled for 30th January

Annual Dinner:

• Petersham RSL and Polish Club Ashfield under consideration

• Quotations to be obtained and reported at next meeting

Archive and Museum:

• Discussions ongoing regarding Kirby Interviews; follow-up on availability needed

• Suggestion raised to commit funds to the project, with potential for the museum to promote the Fortians Union
