The Fortian alumni associations began in 1894 in order to:
1. Build a Strong Community:
Create a place where members can connect, have fun, and support each other.
2. Give Back to Fort Street:
Actively contribute to the success of Fort Street High School through volunteer work, mentorship, or other initiatives.
3. Celebrate Our Legacy:
Honour the rich history and traditions of Fort Street while embracing innovation and progress.

The Fortians Union activities are guided by the management committee, elected annually.
Our 2026 Annual General Meeting was held at the school on Tuesday, 11th November. The following were elected to the 2025/2026 Management Committee, each person’s graduation year is shown in brackets after their name:

Secretary: Ian McLaughlin (1973)
Treasurer & Public Officer: Don Newby (1967)

Motion passed to develop a proposal to achieve a much closer realtionship with the school. To be put to the 2026 AGM.

Six new members joined (spanning years 1977-2024, plus staff and former principal)
Careers Mentoring:
Speed dating-style mentoring event scheduled for 27th February
Responses received from newsletter and annual dinner for volunteers
30 students completed career interest survey
Discussion on broadening participation beyond early-career alumni to include career changers
Mini Reunions:
• Plan to proactively contact significant decade groups
• Coordination with membership lists underway
Merchandising:
50 car badges and key rings ordered
To be promoted through newsletter and social media
Faber Est:
Four editions scheduled for 2026
Constitution Review:
Draft in preparation
To be reviewed at March meeting
School Liaison:
Article to be submitted for the next The Fortian magazine
Sub-group forming to plan future engagement
Student committee liaison planned
Museum archivist invited to join discussions
Annual Dinner:
Traditionally held third Friday in October
